Civet coffee production reflects on animal cruelty, as revealed by a BBC investigation in the area of ​​Sumatra.

However, investigations by the BBC, Guy Lynn and Chris Rogers, showed that the ferret-badger ate the beans are kept in cages.

And some experts believe that the civet coffee sold in the London production of the ferret enclosure although promoted as Luwak coffee is derived from wild civet.

Guy Lynn and Chris Rogers-which masquerades as the purchaser, among others visited several breeders in Takengon, Aceh Province, and Sidikalang in North Sumatra, and civet coffee exporter in the field.

They reported weasel-ferret cages are in poor condition and there is even a ferret that is in a state of wounded.

Dr Neil D'Cruze, from the World Animal Protection Society, who watched the video report states that weasel-ferret was in konsidi depressed and sad.

One cage farms visited the BBC in Takengon admitted supplying civet coffee to Sari Makmur, an export company meyebutkan their civet coffee sourced from wild animals.

Deputy Director Sari Makmur, Andy Spranoto, admitted to the BBC that they can not control all the sources of civet coffee they receive.

They are asking farmers whether natural or not civet coffee but not examined further.

"Frankly, we were not too eager to sell it as a Wild Civet because we can not be sure," said Spranoto.

Sari Makmur has its own civet coffee production operations, spacecraft-which was not visited BBC- and sold under the brand rides Luwak, which among other things can be found in a luxury shopping center Harrods in London.

"It was wild, of course, illegal, but the coffee was derived 100% from the spacecraft so that we can track it down," said Spranoto.

He confirmed to the BBC that no ferret cages on rides and breeding program has been suspended since 2007.

The BBC also contacted two  civet coffee buyers in the UK are said to visit the farm to the spacecraft in 2011 and did not see the ferret cage.
